Privacy Policy
Everything you tune stays on your device — microphone audio is never recorded, stored or transmitted. The only personal data V-Tune touches is the minimum needed to run optional accounts and purchases: an email address and a purchase record. No ads, no analytics, no selling or sharing data. Ever.
What stays on your device
Microphone audio
V-Tune asks for microphone permission so it can listen to the instrument you're tuning. The audio is processed in real time on your device to detect frequencies and drive the strobe display. None of this audio is recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. It exists in memory only for the milliseconds it takes to compute the next strobe frame, and is then discarded.
Settings & trial state
Your preferences — selected scale, reference frequency, theme and so on — plus the date your free trial started are saved in your device's local storage so they persist between sessions.
What we process, and why
Your account (optional)
You don't need an account for the free trial. If you create one — by email magic-link, Sign in with Apple, or Google — we store your email address and a random account ID with our authentication provider, Supabase (hosted in the UK/EU region). The account exists for one purpose: attaching your purchase to you so V-Tune unlocks on all your devices. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
Purchases
Purchases on vtune-app.com are processed by Paddle as merchant of record — Paddle handles your payment details and invoice; we never see your card number. Purchases inside the mobile apps are processed by Apple or Google under their own policies. In all cases, RevenueCat keeps a record that your account owns the unlock, keyed to your account ID — that record is what makes buy-once-everywhere work. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
Update checks
The desktop and sideloaded Android apps check for new releases at launch (a request to GitHub's release service that doesn't include personal data beyond your IP address, which every internet request carries). The iOS app updates through the App Store.
What V-Tune does not do
- No analytics or tracking. We don't track which features you use or how long you use the app.
- No ads. No advertising SDKs, no tracking pixels.
- No selling or sharing data. Your data is used to run V-Tune, nothing else.
- No audio leaves your device. Ever.
Your rights & deleting your data
Under UK/EU data-protection law you can access, correct, export or delete your personal data. To delete your account and everything attached to it, email support@vtune-app.com from your account's address — we'll remove the account and its purchase record. (Keep your Paddle/App Store receipt: it remains proof of purchase should you return.) Local settings can be cleared by uninstalling the app. If you believe we've mishandled your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children's privacy
V-Tune doesn't target children and collects no personal data beyond what's described above. Accounts require an email address; the tuner itself needs none.
Changes to this policy
If what V-Tune does with data changes, we'll update this policy, bump the date at the top, and flag material changes in the app.
